Overview   Match History

Annie, The Dark Child is a Ranged AP Carry who focuses on Area of Effect burst and Stuns. Due to her passive, Pyromania, all of her damaging abilities are able to stun their targets. Her signature ability is her Ultimate Tibbers which is a high damage AoE nuke. It also creates a flaming bear that she can control that deals passive AoE damage during it's duration. She is primarily found in solo middle lane as she has very little escapes and does well with Ancient Golem buff.

Description

Lore: There have always been those within Noxus who did not agree with the evils perpetrated by the Noxian High Command. The High Command had just put down a coup attempt from the self-proclaimed Crown Prince Raschallion, and a crackdown on any form of dissent against the new government was underway. These political and social outcasts, known as the Gray Order, sought to leave their neighbors in peace as they pursued dark arcane knowledge.

The leaders of this outcast society were a married couple: Gregori Hastur, the Gray Warlock, and his wife Amoline, the Shadow Witch. Together they led an exodus of magicians and other intelligentsia from Noxus, resettling their followers beyond the Great Barrier to the northern reaches of the unforgiving Voodoo Lands. Though survival was a challenge at times, the Gray Order's colony managed to thrive in a land where so many others would have failed.

Years after the exodus, Gregori and Amoline had a child: Annie. Early on, Annie's parents knew there was something special about their daughter. At the age of two, Annie miraculously ensorcelled a shadow bear - a ferocious denizen of the petrified forests outside the colony - turning it into her pet. To this day she keeps her bear Tibbers by her side, often keeping him spellbound as a stuffed doll to be carried like a child's toy. The combination of Annie's lineage and the dark magic of her birthplace have given this little girl tremendous arcane power.

"I never play with matches."

- Annie, the Dark Child

Patch History

Mid-Patch Updates

Quote.png These missed the original round of patch notes so we'll call 'em out now. If something felt different in your first few matches of the patch, you weren't crazy! Unquote.png

  • Janna and Nami have had adjustments to their basic attack visual and sound effects

Patch Notes 6.14

Tibbers is a less dumb bear. Still growls, though.
Quote.png Just a few more improvements to Tibbers following Annie’s midseason update. With a smarter bear, the sky’s the limit for Annie players everywhere Unquote.png

Summon Tibbers.png R - Summon: Tibbers

  • Annie’s R - Summon: Tibbers cooldown no longer resets to full if Tibbers lives past the end of the ability’s cooldown

Patch Notes 6.9

Bears.
Quote.png Annie's simplicity as one of League’s original 40 belies a surprising amount of depth, but there are a few areas where her gameplay simply needs to be brought up to modern standards. The first is the lack of clarity around her stun. A skilled Annie learns to bypass Pyromania's indicator by sitting on three stacks, then burning Molten Shield to proc Pyromania as she throws out a near-instant stun. While this lends some degree of mastery to Annie's kit, it means a significant chunk of her power has been tied to outplaying the UI. Pyromania is now tracked on a resource bar and we’re moving that power elsewhere -- more on that later.

The other half of Pyromania’s problem is actually Molten Shield, whose outdated design doesn’t offer enough for Annie to value it as anything other than a cheap Pyromania stack. Molten Shield is being modernized to a shorter, situationally powerful tool with clearer anti-burst uses against the likes of Zed ult, giving Annie a reason to feel good about it.

Returning to the question of how we’re compensating Annie for losing her invisible stun, that power is being reallocated to Tibbers, the most unrealized aspect of Annie's fantasy as pyro girl with giant bear guardian. For being such an integral part of Annie’s character, Tibbers serves little purpose outside of a safer AoE spell than Incinerate for a flash-stun combo. We're putting some fury into Tibbers’ bear swipes and smartening up his AI to make him a persistent threat until killed, befitting his status as the infernal familiar Annie's always deserved. Unquote.png
  • Pyromania.png Passive - Pyromania
    • LET’S COUNT TO FIVE: Pyromania stacks are now displayed under Annie’s health bar (similar to Jhin’s bullets)
  • Incinerate.png W - Incinerate
    • RANGE: 560 ⇒ 625
    • HEAT WAVE: Fixed a bug where units would be hit if they had escaped the area after the cast
  • Molten Shield.png E - Molten Shield
    • DURATION: 5 seconds ⇒ 3 seconds
    • REMOVED RESISTANCES: No longer gives 10/20/30/40/50 armor and magic resist
    • NEW DAMAGE REDUCTION: Now gives 16/22/28/34/40% damage reduction for the duration
    • REMOVED SPEED BEAR: No longer speeds up Tibbers
  • Summon Tibbers.png R - Summon: Tibbers

    • NEW TIBBERS ATTACK RATIO: 0.15 ability power
    • TIBBERS ATTACK RANGE: 125 ⇒ 150
    • PRESENCE OF MIND: Tibbers’ AI has been improved to better follow Annie’s commands and reduce cases where he suddenly stops doing anything
    • NEW FOLLOW ME: Annie can command Tibbers to follow her by selecting herself as Tibbers’ target
    • NEW KEEP UP: While out of combat for at least 5 seconds, Tibbers gains movement speed when moving toward Annie and regenerates 6.0% of his maximum health every second
    • BEARROIDS: Tibbers enrages on summon, ignoring unit collision and gaining 275% bonus attack speed and 100% bonus movement speed (decaying over 3 seconds)
    • BURNING RAGE: Using Pyromania on an enemy champion also causes Tibbers to enrage
    • BEAR VENGEANCE: If Annie dies while Tibbers is summoned, Tibbers instantly regenerates 50% of his missing health, enrages, and targets Annie’s killer. If Annie’s killer is too far away, Tibbers will focus the lowest health champion instead.

Patch Notes 5.21

  • Fixed a bug where Tibbers' E - Molten Shield damage wasn't proccing some on-spell-hit effects that Annie's shield does

Patch Notes 5.9
Annie's basic attack range is shorter.
"For a bear-toting powder keg of midlane murder, Annie's ranges have always made it difficult to interact. Though her attack range is still above average, keeping it in-line with her spells helps opponents skirt the dangerous line between 'On-Fire' and 'about to be'."

  • ATTACK RANGE 625 ⇒ 575

Patch Notes 5.6
Tibbers aura damage scales with rank.
"For a long time we've been pushing Annie into being League's Premier "bear-mage" (that's a thing), be it by lowering Tibbers' cooldown, giving him better defenses, or sharing Molten Shield. With plays beginning to fully respect Tibbers as an entity (he has feelings too, you know), we're pulling back on some of the free damage you get just for being within hugging distance."

  • Summon Tibbers.png R - Summon: Tibbers
    • TIBBERS AURA BASE DAMAGE: 35 magic damage ⇒ 20/30/40 magic damage

Patch Notes 4.4
"We like Annie's versatility, but some of her base damage is too high for how she's currently being used. Our goal is to introduce more interesting choices in Annie's kit (particularly on that Disintegrate buff) as we looked for ways to buff her late game scaling when she builds more traditional AP items."

"We've reduced Disintegrate's cooldown by half on any kill (champion or minion). We've also fiddled with Incinerate and Tibbers so they do less base damage but scale better with AP."

  • Disintegrate.png Q - Disintegrate
    • New Utility: Reduces cooldown by half on all kills (champion or minion)
    • Base Damage: 85/125/165/205/245 ⇒ 80/115/150/185/220
    • Ability Power Ratio: 0.7 ⇒ 0.8
  • Incinerate.png W - Incinerate
    • Base Damage: 80/130/180/230/280 ⇒ 70/115/160/205/250
    • Ability Power Ratio: 0.75 ⇒ 0.85
  • Summon Tibbers.png R - Summon: Tibbers
    • Base Damage: 200/325/450 ⇒ 175/300/425
    • Ability Power Ratio: 0.7 ⇒ 0.8

Patch Notes 4.1
Summary: Pyromania’s stun duration is now shorter at earlier levels but Summon: Tibbers’ cooldown has been reduced at later levels to compensate. Annie’s a terrifying kid to play against in the early phases of the game – even before Tibbers joins the party– mostly due to her long duration stun at level 1. With these changes, we want to give Annie’s lane opponents some more room to breathe against her early threat, but we’ve given Tibbers more late game playtime to compensate. This should lessen a bit of Annie’s power without incinerating her overall strengths.

  • Pyromania.png Passive - Pyromania
