About North American Challenger League

“The North American Challenger League aims to raise the level of competition in the challenger scene, and through that, better competitive North American League of Legends as a whole.” - Zachary Kay, Commissioner - NACL

The North American Challenger League is modeled after traditional sports leagues like the NBA or NFL. NACL is owned by the teams participating in the league, as well as private investors. The league is run by a set of committees which are made up of one member from each of the competing teams. There is also a Commissioner who is responsible for making sure the league runs as intended. The Commissioner sits on all committees, but does not get a vote except in cases of a tie.

Qualifier Tournament

There will be a qualifier for the 10th spot in the league, from Thursday October 3 to Sunday October 6. The Qualifier will be open to all active challenger ranked 5s teams as of 6PM PT on Wednesday October 2nd. Teams can sign up for the qualifier here.

I just noticed something, you get more money winning the 35k Challenger Season, than you do getting last place in Group Stage for Worlds.

Its 35k prize "pool" which means it is a whole prize money from 1st place to last place in the tournment. You get $10,250 for winning the first place in this tournament. You get $25,000 for last place in Worlds, which is larger.

Why would Quantic be in it? Gotta prove yourself before you get randomly invited to real tournaments.

You can say the same for GGLA, they have not been in any tournaments whatsoever. And Napkins is Disguise is probably one of the best Challenger teams with a lot of experience in the amateur scene.

It was right of Riot to allow relegated teams to participate in non Riot events during the off season. I'm jut wondering why Team Coast wasn't asked/invited to be a part of this? I'm sure that this is something Locodoco with Quantic Gaming want to be a part in, but as it states, their team needs to be in the ranked Challenger bracket for qualification, and as of right now I think they're all still trying to get their accounts to level 30 haha.

No, Quantic are all on level 30 accounts (and in Diamond / Challenger as well). Coast and Quantic will both have a chance to compete in this tournament, but they need to have Ranked 5v5 Teams set up and earn their way in.

Should be a easy 1st place for Curse, although I think that TBD and compLexity will give them some trouble. But overall Curse is the more experienced team.

This is a league intended to promote sub-LCS teams (including Curse and Velocity since they were relegated). Why the hell were you expecting Cloud 9 and Vulcun? That's like putting the Yankees and Red Sox in the minor leagues.
