"Teams who earn an invite to Katowice will then be replaced with the next highest-ranking team from their region’s Summer split."

Example: EDG was invited for Oakland and RNG is meant to play in Gyeonggi. But since EDG finished the highest at Worlds among other LPL teams, they earned an invite to Katowice. Since their spot for Oakland is emptied, they will be replaced by RNG (if they'll play) and RNG will be replaced by IMAY in Gyeonggi.

Isn't EDG already qualified for Katowice? If yes, does it mean RNG is going to Oakland and IMay to Gyeonggi?

Most likely. We're still waiting for the official announcement tho.
