Quantic Gaming was a North American multi-gaming and media production organization. Quantic Gaming was first founded in early 2010 by Mark Ferraz. It started out as a small group of friends playing Battlefield, but would later expand to many other games such as StarCraft 2, Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, Battlefield 3 and League of Legends.
History[]
Acquisition of Orbit Gaming[]
Quantic Gaming, after already having many teams in various other video games, decided it was time to dive into the MOBA genre. They decided upon League of Legends team Orbit gaming which consisted of Hai, Nientonsoh, LemonNation, WildTurtle and Yazuki.
Season 2[]
Quantic Gaming started off season 2 eager to break into the scene. They were fan voted into the IPL5 Wildcard Qualifiers, where they failed to qualify, finishing 3rd with a record of 4-4 only behind Team Dignitas and Counter Logic Gaming. Quantic gaming then went on to play in week 4 and 5 of TSM's SoloMid Series, where they finished 3rd and 5th place respectively. Things were looking bright for Quantic Gaming but on December 4 the organization disbanded due to a lack of funding.
Season 3[]
On the 1st of February 2013, 4Nothing, It's Gosu eSports and Quantic Gaming merged together to create Quantic Gaming Reborn. Shortly after the resurrection of the company, they decided to pick up their old League of Legends team made up of Hai, LemonNation, Balls and Meteos on April 2. The team was currently in search for a new AD carry due to Wild Turtle being picked up by TSM. Team Dignitas' b team had recently disbanded and left Quantic Gaming a great opportunity to pick up their AD carry, SnEaKyCaStRoO. SnEaKyCaStRoO officially joined the team on April 6. In early April after the team was finalized, they all moved in together in a gaming house to prepare for the Summer LCS Promotion Tournament. Despite IPL6 being cancelled, Riot decided to hold an IPL6 replacement tournament at the Riot Studios during the weekend of April 11-12th for a chance to make it into the Summer LCS Promotion Tournament. Quantic Gaming went on the win the tournament defeating Curse Academy in the finals winning a prize of $10,000 but had already qualified for the Summer LCS Promotion Tournament under the team Cloud 9. Two weeks out from the Summer LCS Promotion Tournament, Quantic Gaming went on to win the Razer League of Legends Challenge where they squared off versus 3 other top challengers teams. Coming close to the relegations, Quantic Gaming were heavily favored to make it into the LCS for the summer split. But on May 23, the roster departs and reforms Cloud 9.
Summer LCS Promotion Tournament[]
The Summer LCS Promotion Tournament was held from May 10-12th where the top 8 challenger teams looked to steal 4 of the relegated spring LCS teams spots in the summer split. On day 1, Quantic Gaming were to face off vs. Team Astral Poke in the first round where they were favored 90% to TAP's 10%. They beat TAP rather convincingly and then had to beat the revamped CompLexity Gaming to make it into the summer split of the LCS. To start off day 2, Quantic Gaming were marginal favorites with 56% while Complexity had 44%. Quantic Gaming went on to win 3 straight games to win the best of 5 series and make it into the summer split of the LCS. Shortly after winning their LCS spot, the Quantic roster would leave the organization to reform the players' old team, Cloud 9.
Acquisition of Korean Roster[]
After months of inactivity, on the 11th of September, Quantic Gaming announced a new roster consisting of Korean players Woong, Prime, Apple, Locodoco, and Gunza that would move to the US to play and train to qualify for the North American LCS in Season 4.[1] On September 29, Woong left the team, with SuNo of Samsung Galaxy Blue filling out the roster. At first, the team had disappointing results, going 0-4 for a last place finish in the ggLA Challenger Arena #5. Following this, the team entered in two challenger leagues, the Amateur League Championship Series and the National ESL Pro Series/Season VIII. Upon entering these leagues Quantic flourished, sitting on top of both with a record of 16-2 and 13-4 respectively. After blazing through these two competitions, Quantic was entered in the NA LCS Season 4 Promotion Qualifier, going 6-1 (With the one loss being a DQ due to internet problems) and qualifying to participate in the Season 4 Spring Promotion. Entering the Season 4 spring promotion Quantic were considered the heavy favorites after their dominating performance up to date, but unfortunately dropped 3 games in a row on the second day, eliminating the teams chances of getting into the North American LCS. Following their three losses, the team flew back to South Korea due to visa issues, effectively putting Quantic Gaming on hiatus. Despite this, Bernie "Fujikura" Catalan hinted that the team may return to North America in the future to participate in the up-coming Coke Zero league, or to try and qualify for the Season 4 Summer Split.[2]
By the end of December 2013, after the disappointment of not qualifying, organizational upheaval and the departure of Apple, the rest of the players were "de-motivated" and decided to disband.[3]
