Overview

The European Challenger scene is really heating up ahead of the Riots Challenger League which begins this month, and what better way to showcase the best of the European Challenger circuit teams than with an 8 Team Invitational! Hosted by Scan.co.uk and supported by Soundblaster, be quiet! and Netgear, the Scan Invitational returns with its biggest prize pool and team lineup yet. All the action begins at 12:00 CET on Saturday January 11th, with the Quarter Finals, before the Semi Finals and Grand Finals on Sunday January 12th from 12:00 CET.

Eight of the top Europe West challenger teams will compete over two days for £3000 in prize pool, and the opportunity to stand out from the crowd before the 2014 Season even begins.

Team Preview

The Scan Invitational will be the first competitive outings for a few high profile European teams. The dominant North American organisation Cloud 9 picked up a European Challenger team in Apples Is Sour earlier this week, who will play under their organisations banner for the first time this weekend. Alongside Cloud 9, "lololol" are a team with a lot of momentum around them, as Carlos "ocelote" Rodriguez leads the team in to their first competitive tournament, ahead of the challenger circuit.

The new look Supa Hot Crew will be looking to pick up where they left off in challenger after taking SK to the limit during the LCS 2014 EUW Promotion tournament, while Meet Your Makers will be aiming to prove that they will continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the Challenger scene. Eternity Gaming showed their strength in the most recent Kaos TV EUW Challenger Series, and have earned themselves an invite to the Scan Invitational due to their performance.

Rounding out our teams are Heavy Botlane, Reason Gaming (Former Tricked esport) and EYES ON U (former Random XDD) who all earned their spots in Challenger, and the Scan Invitational with strong ranked 5 ladder performances in recent months.
