About[]
World Cyber Games, abbreviated WCG, was founded in 2000 as an international eSports organization with the intent to host annual global competitions. WCG's competitions have taken place all over the world, including China, the United States, South Korea, Germany, Italy, and Singapore. Although the tournaments started for just computer games, the game roster later expanded to consoles and mobile games. At its peak, there were 78 countries and 800,000 competitors taking part in the World Cyber Games. The official motto of WCG is "Beyond the Game", which is also the title of a documentary about eSports.[1]
Game Roster[]
The game roster for the World Cyber Games varies from year to year. Previously, Age of Empires, Asphalt, Command & Conquer, CounterStrike, Dead or Alive, FIFA, Guitar Hero, Halo, Need For Speed, Project Gotham Racing, Quake, StarCraft, Unreal Tournament, Warcraft, Warhammer 40,000, and World of Warcraft have all been part of the game roster.
