Biography[]

Tom "Optimus Tom" Searfoss is an American based League of Legends caster who currently resides in New Jersey^[1]. A long time DotA player, Tom entered the League of Legends during beta. Having lots of experience broadcasting and on the radio and a passion for eSports being an avid watcher of Brood War, DotA & Warcraft 3, Tom decided to utilize his skills as a shoutcaster. Optimus Tom began to cast around the time of the IGN Proleague Season 3 - Atlantic City. He has since done casting and content for a wide variety of companies and channels throughout the League of Legends Community. Most notably, Tom has created and produced video content for ggChronicle, as well as having cast multiple online tournaments such as Leaguecraft ggClassic, CSN playLEGENDS Finals, the IGN ProLeague Season 5/North American Qualifiers and most recently the We Will Do It Ourselves Cup. Tom is also known for providing commentary for the many directed camera stream Riot provides for their online Challenger Circuit Qualifiers. Combined with his work on Major League Gaming's Rising Stars Invitational, Tom has earned himself the nickname "#1 Authority of the Challenger's Circuit."

Time at MLG[]

In the Summer of 2012 Optimus Tom and MonteCristo were brought into the Major League Gaming Studios in New York City to cast the qualifiers to the MLG Summer Arena. After doing so, they were contracted to cast the event itself as well as the ensuing MLG Prizefights series. Since then, Tom has continued to cast the MLG 2012 & 2013 Championship Circuit events, as well as the weekly Rising Stars Invitational in place of the MLG Prizefights.

Who is Optimal Tim[]

"Optimal Tim" is a name accidentally created during the LoneStar Clash 2 when Tom & Chobra were remotely casting an early morning game between FeaR & Reddit Nation. When asked who the casters were (since they were not on screen, nor were they at the actual event) the chat room moderator Anakhimel typoed Tom's name as "Optimal Tim." Originally used to troll Tom among friends and organizers, it quickly spread to pro players as well. An avid watcher of streams, when players would see Tom in their chat rooms they would give shout outs to Optimal Tim instead, prompting a large portion of the community to do the same. The name has now stuck, spawning it's own Twitter account as well as other parody names such as the original Optical Dom (started on the TrinityForce Podcast), or the newer Megatron_Tim.
