Kang "Athena" Ha-woon (Hangul: 강하운) is a League of Legends esports player, previously mid laner for Bilibili Gaming.
Biography[edit]
2016 Preseason[edit]
Kang "Athena" Ha-woon joined Ever as a mid laner. He played with them in the LCK 2016 Spring Season Promotion Tournament but they lost 3-1 to SBENU Sonicboom. They then played in the 2015 LoL KeSPA Cup where they upset Samsung Galaxy and Rebels Anarchy in the first two rounds. Expected to fall 2-0 to recent World Champions SK Telecom, who tried out substitute Scout onstage for the first time in game 1, Ever shocked audiences by not only winning that first game but sweeping the team 2-0, even with Faker playing the second game. Against CJ Entus in the finals, Ever once again swept the series, this time 3-0, and qualified for IEM Cologne as Korea's only seed to the event. Ever continued their strong performance at IEM, defeating H2k 2-1 and then Qiao Gu 3-2 to win the tournament. Their victory marked the first time since the inception of the League Championship Series in 2013 that a team unable to qualify for their national premier league won a major international event. Athena left Ever on December 24 to join EDward Gaming in China as a substitute mid laner.
2016 Season[edit]
Athena shared play time with PawN in the 2016 LPL Spring Season and EDG managed a 2nd place finish in the playoffs. They lost 1-3 to Royal Never Give Up in the Finals.
In the 2016 LPL Summer Split Athena was transfered to I May. The team finished 3rd in the playoffs and lost to Royal Never Give Up. They did however win the third-place match against Team WE. I May qualified as China's #3 seed for the 2016 Season World Championship with a win over Team WE 3-2 in the 2016 Season China Regional Finals. With low expectations, IMay had a decent showing and finished 3rd in their group with a 2-4 record. Post-worlds, I May attended the finals of the 2016 Demacia Cup and finished 2nd, losing 0-3 to EDward Gaming.
2017 Season[edit]
2017 wasn't that great for I May. Although they achieved a 2nd place finish at 2017 Demacia Cup after a 1-3 loss to RNG in the finals, their domestic LPL results were poor. They finished their regular spring season in 4th place with an 8-8 record. In the playoffs they defeated Qiao Gu Reapers 3-2, however they dropped out in the Quarterfinals with a 2-3 loss to OMG. In the summer split they finished 5th place with a 5-11 record and didn't earn enough Championship Points which meant they missed their chance to attend Worlds again.
Trivia[edit]
- Due to Road's 1-game suspension at Worlds 2016, Athena played jungle and Avoidless played support for a game.
