UNIQUE - Stone Skin: If 3 or more enemy champions are nearby, grants 40 bonus armor and 40 bonus magic resistance.
UNIQUE - Metallicize: Increases current and maximum health by 40%, as well as champion size, but reduces the damage you deal by 60% for 4 seconds. If Stone Skin is active, instead increases health by 100% (90 second cooldown). Current health percentage is conserved when the effect ends, as well.

  • Rune Perfect Timing.png Perfect Timing reduces the cooldown of Metallicize by 15%.
  • Metallicize does not restore health equal to 40 (or 100%) of your maximum health. If activated while on 5% health, you will NOT be increased to 45% (or 105%) - rather, 7% or 10%.
  • As the user's current health percentage is conversed at the beginning and end of the effect, the active functions to effectively reduce all incoming, non-percentile damage for the next 4 seconds by 20% or 50% (including true damage). The item does not provide any effective healing.
    • The active effect also reduces the effectiveness of healing by the same amount
    • As the active effect increases both current and maximum health, percentile damage is not affected by the damage reduction. 5%/100% is the same as 10%/200%. The active can still save you from executions that modify their own damage based on your missing health percentage if the modified amount is no longer sufficient to kill you.
  • The health-gains is not countered by Grievous Wounds.

Health granted by Stoneplate's active's is now partially base health, rather than entirely bonus health.

Making good on last patch’s promise, we’ve got a set of changes to mitigate Stoneplate’s oversynergies with a few specific effects. Most importantly, Stoneplate now knows the difference between base health and bonus health. The total health granted is the same as before (with two exceptions—see below), but Stoneplate will contribute far less to effects that scale with bonus health as a result of this change—Cho’Gath’s ult and Locket’s shield being the two most notorious offenders here.

Also, last patch’s Cinderhulk bugfix is back now that Kled isn’t freaking out about it.

RESPECT THE RATIO : Grants [bonus health equal to 40% (or 100%) of base and bonus health] base health equal to 40% (or 100%) base health and bonus health equal to 40% (or 100%) bonus health
ADDITION, NOT MULTIPLICATION : Gargoyle Stoneplate's active no longer scales with Stoneborn Pact or Nunu's Consume Well Fed buff
BUGFIX : (Re-)fixed a bugged interaction between Cinderhulk and Gargoyle Stoneplate's active which caused the combination to grant more bonus health than intended

Stoneplate’s introduction earlier in the season gave tanks a powerful tool to double down on their teamfight survivability. That said, we need to clear up a few problem cases if we want it to stick around for the long term. This patch addresses a bugged interaction with Cinderhulk, whose bonus health modifier was double-dipping to make Stoneplate’s active stronger than intended. This in turn affects stuff like Cho’Gath’s ult and Locket of the Iron Solari’s shield, hence us pulling the fix up into its own section. One bugfix isn’t the end of the script, though—expect further changes within the next few patches.

BUGFIX : Fixed a bug where the Metallicize active forgot to remove Cinderhulk’s +20% bonus health multiplier when calculating its health increase. Cinderhulk’s multiplier always applies after all other health-modifying effects, meaning Metallicize was benefitting more than it should have.
SO MUCH MATH : For example, at 1000 bonus health, the combination of Cinderhulk + Stoneplate was granting 1640 additional bonus health instead of 1400 with three or more enemies nearby. (These numbers don't take base health into account since that portion of Stoneplate's bonus wasn't bugged.)

Provides armor and magic resist. Gain more resistances when near multiple enemy champions. Active grants bonus health but reduces your damage; more health granted if near multiple enemy champions.

Two types of champions stack durability items: fighters, and tanks. Tanks go all in on durability, so they can keep protecting, disrupting, and enabling carries throughout a fight. Fighters, on the other hand, want to pick up a bit of durability but ultimately care about their damage as well.

This puts pure durability items in a weird place. If they provide too much raw tankiness, they risk making fighters too hard to duel. On the other hand, if they don’t provide enough, tanks eat too much ambient damage in teamfights to feel safe doing their job. We’re introducing Gargoyle Stoneplate to give tanks - and maybe fighters who have already fallen behind in the one-on-one - the option to gear up for teamfights without making them impossible to duel.
