Biography[edit]

2016 Season[edit]

Jang "Ghost" Yong-jun joined CJ Entus as a sub AD carry in April of 2015 but he never played a game for them due to being underage. He turned seventeen during the second round robin of the 2016 LCK Spring Season but did not debut until week five of 2016 LCK Summer Season in a 2-0 loss to MVP. This ended up being the only series Ghost played the entire season, with Kramer remaining the team's starting AD carry.

CJ Entus had a very poor showing in the 2016 LCK Summer Season, going 3-15 total in set score. Locked into tenth place in the LCK season, CJ Entus participated in the 2017 LCK Spring Promotion. In the first round they were swept 2-0 by Kongdoo Monster, bringing them down to the loser's bracket. There, they beat SBENU Korea 2-0 before falling to ESC Ever in a 3-0 sweep relegating them from the LCK, this marking the first time an original KeSPA team had been relegated from the LCK.

2017 Season[edit]

For 2017, Ghost moved to the newly renamed bbq Olivers, formerly named ESC Ever as their starting AD carry. He would go on to play every game for bbq Olivers in the 2017 season but results were hard to come by, with a set score of 5-13 and 3-15 in 2017 LCK Spring Season and 2017 LCK Summer Season respectively.

2018 Season[edit]

2018 saw bbq Olivers retain Ghost for the 2018 LCK Spring Season and Trick joining as starting jungler with Ignar as Ghost's new support. Results only marginally improved however with a set score of 6-12 in the 2018 LCK Spring Season with Ghost and Ignar struggling more than the prior Ghost and Totoro bot lane had in 2017. For the 2018 LCK Summer Season, bbq Olivers signed Aries as their new bot laner and initially start him over Ghost at the beginning of the season. Aries however struggled to pilot both AD and AP carries, the latter of which had become meta in the 2018 summer season across the world as a bot laner and after two sets Aries was benched for Ghost for the rest of the LCK season. Ghost only struggled marginally less, PapaSmithy remarking in 2019 how bad Ghost's Vladimir had been in particular in the 2018 LCK Summer Season.[18] bbq Olivers would end 2018 LCK Summer Season with a set score of 2-16, putting them in the 2019 LCK Spring Promotion. Ghost was initially benched in the tournament for Aries once again, but returned in the loser's bracket to face MVP. There they lost 3-1 and were eliminated, the second time Ghost's team had been eliminated from LCK in 3 years. Soon after bbq Olivers' relegation from LCK, Ghost joined Team BattleComics, one of the teams which had relegated his former team, renaming soon after to SANDBOX Gaming. At the 2018 LoL KESPA Cup with the team's original starting AD carry Hollow being benched, Ghost was drafted in to play a single game against Gen.G in game two, a position he would not lose for the rest of his time on SANDBOX Gaming. Ghost had a relatively strong performance, but SANDBOX Gaming lost and was eliminated from the tournament, ending Ghost's 2018 season.

2019 Season[edit]

2019 saw a drastic turn of form for Ghost, immediately playing at a higher level than he had in any prior season. This was noted by both fans and casters alike, quickly earning him the nickname of 'Holy Ghost' or 'Holy Spirit'.[19] Ghost started every game for SANDBOX Gaming in the 2019 season, with the 2019 LCK Spring Season yielding a set score of 13-5 and a fifth place finish in the 2019 LCK Spring Playoffs. They became the only team to take a game off of Griffin in the first round robin, with Ghost himself earning 700 MVP points and seventh place in the overall MVP standings which he at one point lead. Fifth place was considered relatively disappointing for a team which had held second for the majority of 2019 LCK Spring Season, but it was still a major turnaround for Ghost as a player who had been regarded as the worst starting player in LCK the previous year. Through the 2019 LCK Spring Season, Ghost became known for his high level of play on his pocket picks of Draven and Viktor and this continued on to the 2019 LCK Summer Season, with SANDBOX Gaming reaching first in the standings in week five and retaining it in week six. That would be the high point however as SANDBOX Gaming began to fall off towards the latter quarter of the split, although still achieving theirs and Ghost's best ever result in the regular season with a third place finish. Playoffs saw them eliminated 3-0 by SK Telecom T1 but they qualified for 2019 LCK Regional Finals, losing 3-1 to Kingzone DragonX. This was to be the final game Ghost would play for SANDBOX Gaming as he reached a mutual agreement with the team to terminate his contract which had previously been extended to cover the 2020 season. It was still a year of firsts for Ghost however, with his reputation being greatly enhanced by his solid performance throughout.

2020 Season[edit]

Ghost remained unsigned in the 2020 pre-season, eventually joining DAMWON Gaming in late February, becoming eligible to play from the second round robin of the LCK 2020 Spring Season. The team saw an improvement in form after Ghost became the starter late in the split, with four 2-0 victories in a row, and they would ultimately place fifth in the standings. After beating KT Rolster in the Playoffs wildcard round, DAMWON Gaming lost 3-2 to DragonX in the quarterfinals. This fourth place finish earned them a spot in the 2020 Mid Season Cup, however they were quickly eliminated in the group stage, ending their spring split.

Trivia[edit]

  • Nicknamed 'Holy Ghost' or 'Holy Spirit' after his vastly improved performance in 2019, with a large portion of fans considering him to be the most improved player.
  • Well known for his pocket pick of
    Draven
which he has shown high performance on regardless of its priority in the meta, sharing this attribute with Gango.
  • Was hyped before his debut along with his CJ Entus teammate Bdd as a potential star player of the future despite then being ineligible for play on stage due to not meeting the seventeen years of age requirement.
  • Former CJ Entus teammate Madlife regards him highly earning Ghost the title of scrim-god, largely because prior to 2019 he was unable to show the performance on stage that he had been hyped up to deliver.
  • Remains close friends with many of his former CJ Entus teammates and they are often seen together in pictures on their social media accounts.
