Before the 2018 Spring split, the NALCS moved to a permanent franchised system, removing promotion. Immortals, Team Dignitas, Team EnVyUs, and Phoenix1 were not accepted into the new league and were disbanded. The six remaining teams, along with four new teams, were given permanent slots in the league. During the 2019 season the parent companies of Clutch Gaming and OpTic Gaming were aquired by the parent companies of Dignitas and Immortals respectively. Evil Geniuses aquired the vacant seed after Riot and Echo Fox agreed to terminate Echo Fox's participation in the LCS.
