Biography[]

Season 3[]

Jang "MaRin" Gyeong-hwan joined SK Telecom T1 2 as a sub in 2013. He was an official sub for them in HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013 but he did not play any games.

2014 Season[]

MaRin first joined the competitive scene when SK Telecom T1 1 was rebuilt around him on October 12, 2013. The team renamed to SK Telecom T1 S a few months later. They qualified for PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014 where they failed to make it past the group stage. At HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014, S failed to make it out of groups once again. The team's best result came at HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014 where they made it to the semifinals but ultimately placed 4th after losing 3-2 to the KT Rolster Arrows and then being swept 3-0 by Samsung White.

2015 Season[]

With the changes to the OGN rules, S and their sister team SK Telecom T1 K were forced to merge to form SK Telecom T1. With K's top laner, Impact, departing from the team, MaRin was given the starting position for top. The team participated in SBENU Champions Spring 2015 where they won the championship after beating the GE Tigers in the finals 3-0. SK Telecom's victory qualified them for the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational where they made it to finals but lost 3-2 to EDward Gaming. SKT placed first in the regular season of SBENU Champions Summer 2015 after only dropping one set the whole season. They beat KT Rolster 3-0 in the finals of the playoffs to qualify for the 2015 Season World Championship as the top seed from Korea. SKT was placed in a group at worlds alongside EDG, Bangkok Titans, and H2k Gaming. They went undefeated all the way to the finals, beating AHQ e-Sports Club and Origen in the playoffs along the way. They met the KOO Tigers in the finals and beat them 3-1 to give the organization its second World Championship.

2016 Season[]

SKT played in the 2015 LoL KeSPA Cup where they lost 2-0 in the semifinals to Ever. MaRin left SK Telecom in November of 2015 and joined LGD Gaming.[17] Hoping to bounce back from their rough Worlds and post-Worlds performances, LGD would go into LPL Spring with high hopes. Being placed in Group A, LGD struggled in the first several weeks of play. Despite having good players in every position, they struggled to play as a team. In the second half of the season however, they started playing better and bounced back, finishing 4th in their group with an 8-8 record. They would face off against Vici Gaming in Round 1 of the Playoffs but would go on to lose 1-3, finishing the Spring Split in 7th-8th.

In Summer, LGD finished 5th in their group with a 7W-9L record, failing to make it to the Playoffs. The team had to play in the Promotion Tournament as well, which they fortunately won over Newbee (3-1), to secure their spot in the Summer Split.

2017 Season[]

During the off season, MaRin decided not to renew his contract with LGD and go back to Korea instead. He then signed with LCK team Afreeca Freecs to play as their starting Top Laner for the 2017 Season, alongside Spirit, Kuro, TuSin, Mowgli and Kramer. Afreeca Freecs managed to end the Summer Split at 5th place, with a 10-8 record, guaranteeing a spot in the playoffs. In the first round of playoffs, MaRin faced off his former team SK Telecom T1. Unfortunately, SK Telecom T1 won the series with a clean 2-0 victory, leading to Afreeca Freecs to play in the Regional Finals in order to go to Worlds. MaRin and Afreeca Freecs played and won against MVP in the first round with a close 3-2, followed by a 2-3 defeat by Samsung Galaxy in the second round, failing to make it to Worlds.

On November 11, MaRin announced that he would be leaving the team. Shortly after he joined Chinese team Topsports Gaming.

2018 Season[]

While Marin arrived at Topsports Gaming in February 2018, the team is in serious situation. The team competed 20 series since June 29, 2017, and only have 1 winning series against Joy Dream, a team from LSPL (or LDL in 2018). Marin's first apperence as top laner of TOP happened at 17:00 CST in February 23, 2018, as the first match of LPL 2018 Spring after the National Holiday of Chinese Spring Festival and against Vici Gaming, the other team with a 0-7 result at that time. Marin successfully help Topsports to win the match with a 2-1 victory, and became MVP in both games they won. However, Marin's arrival didn't change Topsports' fate. They finished the Spring Season in 3-14, the worst in East Region and the second worst in the whole LPL, and Marin's last apperance as a professional player was at the Game 1 of the series against FunPlus Phoenix in LPL 2018 Summer Season in June 26, 2018. Topsoprts Gaming finished the Summer Season as a dark horse with a 10-9 record, ranking at the third place in West Region, and finished the Playoff at the 6th place. Marin's departure was confirmed in November 7, 2018.

2019 Season[]

After leaving Topsports Gaming, MaRin went back to Korea. On 20th of January KST, MaRin turned on his Twitch stream for the first time in the last few months. To the viewers who asked how he had been doing, MaRin told he has been under the weather. He told the viewers that he would be retiring from pro play. He also mentioned that he received multiple offers to be a coach during his break period but he has no intention of being a coach.
