Notes[]

  • Assuming a charge is gained every 4 seconds, the 750 mana charge takes 10 minutes to max.
  • Manamune grants a total of 30 attack damage by itself at zero stacks.
  • When gaining maximum mana from Mana Charge, you preserves your percent current mana.
  • The Mana Charge stacking does not stack when holding multiple
    Tear of the Goddess
    ,
    Archangel's Staff
    or
    Manamune
. It is possible to stack a new Tear of the Goddess after upgrading fully the previous one into either
    Seraph's Embrace
    or
    Muramana
    .
  • The bonus stats granted by Awe are not shared between
    Manamune
    /
    Muramana
    and
    Archangel's Staff
    /
    Seraph's Embrace
. This means that with both item lines you will get both the bonus attack damage and ability power from both items.
    • On the other hand, the mana refund granted by Awe is shared and only the highest refund value will apply.
  • Selling Tear of the Goddess and its upgrades removes the bonus mana.
  • Spells which does not cost any mana will not generate any charge.
    • However,
      Manamune
can be stacked on manaless champions through basic attacks.
  • Manamune may be used to charge
    Archangel's Staff
using only basic attacks, as Archangel's Staff's transformation takes priority.
  • Mana Charge acts as an on-hit effect.

Other[]

  • On the Howling Abyss, this item is replaced by
    Manamune (Quick Charge)
which makes each charge grant +6 mana instead of +5.
    • It also holds a different item code than the regular Manamune (3008).

Trivia[]

  • The name "Manamune" is a reference to the legendary swordsmith Masamune, who is widely regarded as Japan's greatest swordsmith.
    • Therefore, the item's name should be pronounced 'mah-nah-moo-nay'.
  • The Manamune was created accidentally by Alowicious Chucat while he was working with a blueprint for a different item.
  • The icon of Manamune has a high resemblance to the sword Soul Calibur, from the Soul series of fighting games.

Base Stats

DAMAGE : [25] 35
MURAMANA : Also applies to Muramana

Patch 9.6
All Tear items now belong to a Tear item group, with a maximum of 1 allowed.

We told you that we were potentially nerfing Ezreal last patch, and we decided that targeting his Double Tear build was a better solution than directly changing him. We're putting all Tear items into one group so players can't buy more than one Tear of the Goddess (and subsequently, its upgrades). After these changes go into effect, we don't expect Ezreal to stay as super dominant as he has been, but we’ll be keeping an eye on him.

WE ARE FAMILY If you own Manamune(/Muramana) or Archangel's Staff(/Seraph's Embrace), you're unable to purchase the other (or another Tear of the Goddess)

v7.21
Stacking effect can now occur up to three times every 12 seconds.

Stacking Tear often incentivizes odd behaviors, such as using abilities while simply walking down the lane or standing still at the base. We want to make it easier for Tear to be stacked when you’d already be casting abilities, such as lane trades, teamfights, farming, and so on.

Editor’s Note: I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Mystic Shots fired at the shoulders of Ornn. I watched Overloads glitter in the dark near the Base Gates. All those abilities were lost in time, like Tears in rain. Time to stack.

LESS QQ : [Can gain up to two stacks every 8 seconds]
Can gain up to three stacks every 12 seconds
THE OTHERS : This change also impacts Seraph’s Embrace and Manamune

v7.21
Mana per stack increased.

Read Tear of the Goddess context!

MORE PEW PEW : [+4] +5 mana per stack

v6.9

Carryover from the changes to Tear.

Archangel's Staff

Also affects Seraph’s Embrace.

MANA REGENERATION No longer grants mana regeneration
MANA REFUND Refunds 25% of mana spent

Manamune

Also affects Muramana

MANA REGENERATION No longer grants mana regeneration
MANA REFUND Refunds 15% of mana spent

v6.4
Now has Tear of the Goddess's stacking passive

Sitting on Tear of the Goddess is a gamble - in most cases, you're going for an item that gives you very little combat effectiveness for a big payoff (once you upgrade). While the 'Tear = weak' part is holding up decently, folks who wanted Manamune found themselves putting off their sweet mana sword because there would be certain situations it would actually be harder to stack than its component gem. While the decision on when to upgrade is compelling, we don't want 'Manamune's stacking is just worse' to be the deciding factor.

MIND OVER MANA Now gains +1 mana every 8 seconds

v5.22

TOTAL cost : [2200 gold] 2400 gold
BUILD path : Tear of the Goddess + Pickaxe + 775 gold

v4.12
Now builds out of Pickaxe instead of Longsword, costs a little more and has slightly more AD. "Making this change lets us smooth out the build path for Manamune rather than front-loading it with cheap items and then waiting a full 1000g+ to upgrade."

  • RECIPE: Tear of the Goddess + Longsword + 1040 gold ⇒ Tear of the Goddess + Pickaxe + 625 gold
  • TOTAL COST: 2100 gold ⇒ 2200 gold
  • ATTACK DAMAGE: 20 ⇒ 25
