Martin "Marn" Phan is the owner of Team MRN. He was born in Houston, Texas where he went to Dobie High School and currently lives in Santa Monica, California. He started playing games competitively at the age of 11 with fighting games. Had previous tournament experience at MLG Anaheim and TSM Invitationals 6 and 7.


  • He was a highly regarded member of the fighting game pro scene and is known for killing the competitive scene of Guilty Gear when he rigged the brackets.
  • He was the grand champion of the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom tournament at EVO 2010. Because Tatsunoko vs. Capcom was not included as a main stage game at Evolution in successive years, he remains the world champion of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
  • He is well known for his loss at Final Round XIV where he repeatedly lost games in the a Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 set to current Capcom senior community specialist Peter Rosas (ComboFiend) due to a "choke."
  • He is also known for two major upset victories as a fighting game player:
    • While he was with Evil Geniuses, he beat Daigo Umehara using Dudley to knock him out of the Super Street Fighter IV singles tournament at Seasons Beatings: Redemption (2010). [1]
    • He made a return to EVO in 2014 for Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 and upset tournament favorite Christopher Gonzalez (Chris G) to advance to the Top 8. [2]
