Biography[edit]

Matt was a substitute for Gravity in the 2015 NA LCS Season but never started for them. In May 2015, he also joined Team Liquid Academy and played for them in multiple tournaments, including the NACS 2015 Summer Qualifier and the HTC Ascension tournament. He also substituted for Vortex in week 2 of the NACS Summer Season.

2016 Season[edit]

Team Liquid Academy made it through the NACS 2016 Spring Open Qualifier and Main Qualifier without dropping a single game, easily qualifying for the NACS Spring Season. Additionally, Team Liquid announced that all members of TL Academy would also be active substitutes on the main Team Liquid roster for the spring season of the LCS.

After one game, that meant for Matt that he would be a permanent member of the LCS roster, and he replaced Smoothie for the rest of the season as Piglet's support. Matt became known for his Bard, though his highest winrates were with Alistar and Janna. Team Liquid finished fourth in the regular season, going on to defeat NRG in the quarterfinals before losing a narrow five-game series to Counter Logic Gaming (the eventual champions) and then a 3-0 to Immortals to end in fourth overall, continuing the team's "fourth-place curse."

Despite Dardoch's stellar spring split performance, on May 27, he was suspended by the team for "behavioral problems and team dynamics issues" ahead of the Summer Split.[15] Liquid Academy jungler Moon was used for the team's first series instead, which they lost, and by the end of the week Dardoch was starting again, where he remained through the end of the Playoffs. Soon after Dardoch's return, Fabbbyyy was also traded to the main Team Liquid roster, this time in exchange for Piglet. This roster of Lourlo, Dardoch, Fenix, Fabbbyyy, and Matt stabilized, and the team finished in fifth place with a 9-9 series record. In the playoffs, they shook up their roster once again, substituting in Jynthe for their third game against CLG after two losses. Jynthe won his first game, but Team Liquid ultimately lost the series 3-1 and then also lost in the first round of the Regional Finals to Team EnVyUs, this time with both Jynthe at AD carry and former substitute mid laner Arcsecond jungling.

2017 Season[edit]

Matt stayed with Team Liquid for 2017. Although there was a lot of hype surrounding the team due to their acquisition of Reignover, the spring split started slow for Liquid and didn't pick up afterward, and they ended Week 5 in a tie for last place. In response, the team initiated a series of roster changes, including the aquisition of second support Adrian, although he only ended up playing three games as Matt remained the primary starter. Liquid did play a little bit better after the changes were made but still ended up finishing ninth, sending them to the promotion tournament. Although neither series was clean, Liquid defeated challenger teams EUnited and Gold Coin United in the promotion tournament and retained their LCS spot.

Liquid started their initial spring roster again in the summer season, but their spring slide only continued, as they immediately fell into last and only finished a single week above ninth place. Matt was replaced by konkwon for six midseason games but returned to the starting spot afterward. Liquid finished ninth, forcing them once again to play in the promotion tournament. However, they requalified for the LCS with relative ease, sweeping EUnited, and beating LCS team Phoenix1 3-2.

2018 Season[edit]

Matt left TL in December and joined the newly formed Golden Guardians, along with his Team Liquid teammate Lourlo. Golden Guardians were predicted to be one of the weakest teams in the Spring Split, in part due to being the only team to have a roster solely consisting of North American players. This prediction would prove prescient, as they were the last team to record a win and finished 4-14 despite showing some late-season improvement.

Golden Guardians got off to a much better start in the summer split than they had in the spring, matching their spring win total by Week 4 and ending Week 5 in playoff contention with a 5-5 record. However, they completely collapsed over the final four weeks, losing every one of their remaining games and once again landing in tenth place, outside of playoffs.

2019 Season[edit]

Matt returned to the Team Liquid organization for 2019, joining Team Liquid Academy. His new team got off to a hot 5-1 start over the first three weeks of the spring academy season, but only managed to win five more games over the course of the split. This still qualified them for the playoffs as part of a four way tie for third, where they were drawn to face and swept CLG Academy in the semifinals. This sent the team to the quarterfinals against Cloud9 Academy, who they fell to 3-1.

Team Liquid Academy once again got off to a hot start in the summer academy split, going 6-3 over their first nine games. However, the team declined after jungler MikeYeung was picked up by Echo Fox and ended up finishing 9-9, in fifth place. They got another chance in the playoffs, but were swept by TSM Academy, ending their season.

2020 Season[edit]

Matt changed organizations for 2020 but remained at the academy level, joining the newly formed Evil Geniuses Academy. The team struggled with visa-related roster issues to begin the spring academy season, but climbed afterward, finishing 11-7 and in third place. In the playoffs, they reached the academy finals after sweeping Team Liquid Academy in the quarterfinals and beating Dignitas Academy 3-1 in the semifinals, but were themselves swept by Cloud9 Academy.

In the summer split, EG Academy declined but still managed to equal every loss with a win, finishing in sixth place with a 9-9 record. In the playoffs, they managed to upset third-seeded 100 Thieves Academy in a 3-0 sweep, but lost to TSM Academy in another sweep in the semifinals.
