Nexus Blitz is an experimental game mode. It was released on live servers for global testing on patch 8.16 (July 31st-Sept. 11th, 2018), and again on patch 8.24 (Dec. 6th, 2018- Jan. 8th, 2019)

General Information[edit]

  • Nexus Blitz games last 15-20 minutes
  • Champion select uses the position selection and assignment methods met in Normal Draft and Ranked Summoners' Rift queues, although players only have 2 options, "Lane" and "Jungle", along with "Fill".
  • If a player is assigned at the "Lane" position, they can choose any summoner spell available BUT Smite. If a player is assigned at the "Jungle" Position, Smite is automatically chosen for them.
  • Each team has 2 Junglers and 3 Lane players.
  • Gold and experience gained from jungle camp kills has been tuned to compensate for the existence of 2 Junglers.
  • The map has a single lane, splitting into 2 in the middle. At the top of the map, a jungle is seen, with jungle camps and buffs. There is also an invincible turret in the enemy jungle.
  • Surrender available from the 8 minute mark.
  • Recall's casting time is reduced to 4.5 seconds, from 8.
  • Homeguard available from the start of the game.
  • The respawn timer reaches its maximum duration at 18 minutes.
  • Nexus Blitz Aura:
    • +30% Summoner Cooldown reduction
    • +4 mana regen per 5 seconds
    • +5.5 - 14 (based on level) magic resistance

Items[edit]

Exclusive items

Jungle[edit]

  • Jungle camps have a respawn time of 60 seconds.
  • Jungle camps taken with more than one champion grant 150% experience and gold, split between them.
  • Red BramblebackSquare.png Red Brambleback and Blue SentinelSquare.png Blue Sentinel are located centrally and are much stronger. Taking a buff camp gives a supercharged version of the buff to the last hitter and the closest champion. They both spawn at 1:45. They grant 200g locally and 60g to all champions on the slayer's team.
  • Crest of Insight grants its usual effects but additionally increases the CDR cap to 50% for the duration of the buff.
  • Rift HeraldSquare.png Rift Herald is stronger, but on-death grants Hand of Baron and Eye of the Herald for 2 minutes to the team who takes it. Hand of Baron only strengthens minions and does not grant attack damage or ability power. It spawns at 10 minutes, and respawns after 4 minutes.
  • Rift ScuttlerSquare.png Rift Scuttler camp below bot lane. When killed, its shrine appears in the brush between the two lanes.

On Fire![edit]

After a certain amount of kills and assists without dying, a champion gets "On Fire!".

"On Fire!" buff bonuses

  • 20% bonus attack speed, 12 − 120 (based on level) bonus Attack Damage or 20 − 200 (based on level) Ability Power (Adaptive), Cooldown reduction, and 50 mana/energy regeneration per 5 seconds.
  • Increased the damage taken (including from turrets) by 25% for Melee role melee champions and 35% for Ranged role ranged champions.
  • Reduced incoming shields and healing by 15%.
  • Persistent through revival effects.
  • No maximum duration. Lost when killed, and grants a minimum of 800g to the killer and 200g to each of their teammates.

Events[edit]

Various events happen through the course of a Nexus Blitz game, every few minutes, with an average of 2-3 per game. The first event of the game is announced in champion select and happens at around 5:00. The next event is revealed 30 seconds before it starts. Winning an event grants the victors a random reward, and occasionally extra bonuses, like gold.

Events[edit]

Bardle Royale[edit]

  • Classic:
    • A circle of death closes in on a part of the map.
    • The circle spawn position slightly favors the behind team.
    • The last surviving team wins the event.
    • Respawning puts a champion in Stasis at the base until the event ends.
    • Being outside the ring deals heavy damage every second to your champion.
  • Juggernaut:
    • Same as Classic Bardle Royale but additionally, one random champion in each team gains a high amount of health and the "On Fire!" buff at the start of the event.
  • Paranoia:
    • Same as Classic Bardle Royale but additionally, all players are Nearsighted, as with the titular ability, Paranoia.png Paranoia.
    • Every champion also gets additional flat penetrations.

URF Deathmatch[edit]

  • Everyone has the Ultra Rapid Fire powers and 3 lives. Brawl until only one team remains.
  • The last surviving team wins the event.
  • Respawning puts a champion in Stasis at the base until the event ends.
  • If any champion is out-of-combat, they start slowly burning, damage increasing during the next 20 seconds.

Loot[edit]

  • TeemoSquare.png Teemo:
    • A Loot Teemo spawns randomly in the middle of the map.
    • Hitting the Loot Teemo grants 25% of the damage done to the Loot Teemo as Gold.
    • The team that last-hits the Loot Teemo wins the event.
  • VeigarSquare.png Veigar:
    • Same as the Loot Teemo event, but the Loot Veigar also uses Dark Matter.png Dark Matter and Event Horizon.png Event Horizon.

Push the Cart[edit]

  • Escort the Cart so that it can move to the enemy base.
  • Carts that spawn from the 2nd event onward move faster.
  • Pushing the cart grants gold.
  • Once close enough to a turret, it will instantly destroy it, disappearing afterwards.
  • If the event goes too long, the cart gets impatient and decides the next person to touch it wins.
  • This event can go into overtime.
  • Attack/Defend Variation:
    • A time-capped variant of Push the Cart.
    • Only the attackers can push the cart and their objective is still to shove it into an enemy building.
    • When time runs out, defenders claim the win by shoving all attackers off the cart.

Arena/Prize Fights[edit]

  • Series of speedy 2v2s and 1v1s in the center of the map. Matchups are balanced around how much gold you have, being as equal as possible.
  • The team winnning the most prize fights takes the event.

King of the Hill[edit]

  • A hill appears in a random location on the map.
  • Being on the hill captures the point but deals 2.5% of maximum health damage every second to your champion.
  • If you push the enemy off, you'll drain their progress before adding your own.

Scuttler Racing[edit]

  • One Rift ScuttlerSquare.png Rift Scuttler for each team spawns. The scuttlers start racing in a line in the middle of map, from top to bottom.
  • The Scuttlers cannot be killed. They are put into stasis for a few seconds, after which they revive and continue racing.
  • The first Scuttler to reach the finish line wins the event for its team.

Sudden Death: Nexus Blitz[edit]

  • This final event happens at 18 minutes. It is not random.
  • Each team's Nexus will start walking towards the enemy's base.
  • The team that kills the other's Nexus first wins.
  • The Nexus Minion can cast abilities.
  • The Nexus Minion is permanently Ghosted, has 420 attack damage, 200 armor, and 150 magic resistance.
  • Death timers are set to 15 seconds during Sudden Death.
  • Nexus minions will wait for each other near the middle of the map instead of pathing into the enemy base.

Rewards[edit]

  • Battle Sled: All aboard on a wild ride from the base to almost anywhere on the map.
  • Blessing of BlitzcrankSquare.png Blitzcrank: Allied turrets, siege minions and super minions have the ability to Rocket Grab.png Rocket Grab nearby enemies.
  • Blessing of JannaSquare.png Janna: Each member of the team gains a hefty shield until it is broken.
  • Blessing of SorakaSquare.png Soraka: For 3 minutes, restores health and mana when out-of-combat.
  • Blessing of ZileanSquare.png Zilean: Each member of the team gains a one-time  Guardian Angel effect, lasting 90 seconds.
  • Catapult of Champions: A champion can be launched anywhere on the map after a small delay. On impact damage is dealt, ability effects are applied, and nearby enemies are pushed away.
  • Mega Cloud Drake: Each member of the team gains a massive out-of-combat movement speed boost.
  • Poro King: The Poro King arrives to aid a team, pushing through top lane! Fluffy helps in sieging enemy turrets, breathes fire on baddies, and periodically heals nearby allies. Long live the King!
  • Statikk Shock: Each member of the team gets  chain lightning zaps on their auto attacks to mow down waves (and champions) with ease.

Other Changes[edit]

The changes below are Nexus Blitz exclusive

Minions[edit]

  • Melee minions grant 35g.
  • Caster minions grant 25g.
  • Siege minions grant 100g.

Gold Sharing[edit]

  • All minion deaths (regardless of last hit) and monster kills share about 30% of the total gold value to every champion on the team.
  • Last hitters (or nearby allies in the case of jungle camps) still get the full gold and experience value.
  • Gold from champion kills and assists is not globally shared.

Turrets[edit]

  • Turrets grant 25g to the last-hitter and 50g globally.
  • Turrets start the game with 60 armor and magic resistance, gain 70 bonus attack damage after 7 minutes, and have 15% armor penetration.
  • The outer turret has 3300 health.
  • The inhibitor turret has 4300 health and 50% damage reduction until both outer towers have been destroyed.
  • The nexus turrets have 5400 health.
  • The Nexus Obelisk turret deals 420 pure damage every 0.5 seconds.
