Biography[edit]
Derek "Raydere" Trang began playing League of Legends competitively in 2012 on Team Immunity. With them, he gained his first international experience at WCG 2013, where Immunity placed third in their group, just shy of the playoffs. After winning the Riot Season 3 Oceanic Championship, Raydere and Immunity also qualified for the 2013 International Wildcard Tournament but missed out on Worlds with a semifinal finish.
2014 Season[edit]
After winning the Autumn and placing second at the Winter Oceanic Regional Tournaments, Raydere and the rest of his team left Immunity to start a new organization. Initially known as Exodus Gaming, the team renamed to The Chiefs eSports Club shortly after their formation and went on to tie for third place at the Oceanic Grand Finals.
2015 Season[edit]
Continuing to pair with Rosey as his support during the OPL 2015 Split 1, Raydere helped the Chiefs to 13-1 record and recorded a season KDA of 8.09, primarily playing Kalista, Corki, and Sivir. The Chiefs remained undefeated throughout the OPL 2015 Split 1 Playoffs and qualified for the 2015 International Wildcard Invitational. Raydere struggled at the Wildcard Invitational, ending with a KDA of only 2.53, and the team knocked out before playoffs with a 3-3 group stage record. Before the beginning of OPL 2015 Split 2 Rosey left the team and was replaced by EGym. This split, however, the Chiefs remained undefeated through fourteen games. Rosey himself had a season KDA of 10.33 and earned the Split 2 MVP title. The Chiefs only lost one game during the playoffs. At the International Wildcard Qualifier for Worlds, the Chiefs advanced to the finals but still missed out on Worlds, this time losing to Bangkok Titans 3-1 in the finals.
2016 Season[edit]
At the beginning of the OPL 2016 Split 1, Chiefs mid laner Swiffer was substituted out and replaced by Cheese for the first six weeks. Throughout the split the Chiefs struggled to adapt to the new format of the league, with best-of-three matches. Raydere became the team's primary shotcaller until Swiffer returned in week 7. Raydere ended the split with a KDA of 4.88, and the Chiefs finished in second place. In the playoffs, they beat Sin Gaming in the semifinals before facing and defeating the regular season winner and rival team Legacy eSports, securing an International Wildcard Invitational seed for the second year in a row.
At the end of July, right before Chiefs and and Dire Wolves played each other in the Split 2 Playoffs, Raydere was traded to Dire Wolves, with Raes replacing him as the Chiefs AD carry.[7] Dire Wolves lost to Chiefs 3-0 in the semifinals, and Raydere announced his retirement.[8]
