Biography[edit]
Ryan "Ron" Ballard is from British Columbia, Canada. He is currently in high school, studying computer programming and animation. When he was five, he began to play Mario games on Nintendo before moving on to Zelda and then World of Warcraft.
2015 Preseason[edit]
Originally known as "Big ol Ron", he started out as the substitute toplaner for Monstar Kittenz, one of the teams that qualified for the NA Spring Expansion Tournament via the Ranked 5's ladder. Monstar Kittenz lost to compLexity.White 1-2 in the first round of the tournament. After Monstar Kittenz were eliminated from the Expansion Tournament, Big ol Ron joined COGnitive Gaming as their starting top laner.
2015 Season[edit]
Big ol Ron later COGnitive left to play with Team Confound, a team formed to play in the NACS Spring Qualifier. Under the ranked ladder team 321321321, they reached the qualifier with the 5th-place seed and defeated AffNity in the first round before losing to Cloud9 Tempest in the second round. However, after Cloud9 Tempest were found guilty of using a ringer in their matches, Team Confound were given the spot in the NACS Spring Season. After this ruling was announced, the team was acquired by Team SoloMid to form TSM Darkness. In the announcement, he was listed as Ron, though he continued to compete under the name Big ol Ron.
TSM Darkness finished in fifth place in the NACS spring season after beating CLG Black in a tiebreaker game. After TSM dropped sponsorship of the team due to t3azer's having leaked scrim results to Team Fusion, the team renamed to Elomingle. They retained their seeding into the NACS summer season qualifier. After another namechange to Magnetic, the team qualified for the summer season, and then they renamed once again to Team Imagine. Ron played with Imagine for the first two weeks of the season before the entire roster was replaced.
2016 Season[edit]
Though he had previously announced his intent to retire from competitive play, Ron joined Stars eSpots Club for the Carbon Winter Invitational in January 2016.
Trivia[edit]
- The name "Big ol Ron" comes from people at his school calling each other "Ron."
