Singed is a deranged chemist from Zaun who is as brilliant as he is amoral. A child prodigy, he taught himself the ways of chem-tech and biological experimentation, constantly testing the boundaries of conventional science. For over a century he has continued to refine his art, having extended the natural span of his life through a mix of volatile chemicals and extensive self-performed surgery. He lets nothing – not morality, and certainly not other people – come between him and the knowledge he seeks.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE

SUBJECT #1088

Procured a cutthroat hiding among the populace and feigning civility. Only a disciplined eye could recognize the beast within, yearning for release. How could I refuse? For what is my work if not an attempt to reveal life’s hidden truths through science? It required two doses to subdue him. Impressively resilient. A necessary quality to survive the grand catalyst of pain and provoke the transmutation. The metamorphosis will reshape the man into a chimeric predator, and all of Zaun will be its hunting grounds.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE 1.png

AUGMENTATION

Prepared subject for implantation. Tested a surgical technique I observed during the Ionian Campaign to reach the scapulae. Required several minutes of drilling through bone to attach the alchemical chamber and pumps that will deliver the transmutative formula. Subject wailed and pleaded. Insisted he was no longer a monster, but a good man. Ignored the distractions and threaded lengths of delicate hoses throughout his extremities, splicing them with his veins and arteries. The subject remained conscious and screaming for six hours. Very encouraging as he endured significantly longer than earlier failures. Finished by integrating the mechanical augmentations with the neurolous fibers of the spine. Minimal stitching required. Subject stable and recovering. I must rest and replenish before tomorrow’s procedure.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE 2.png

GRAND CATALYST

Found subject despondent and shrinking at the slightest gesture. He struggled against his bonds as the delivery chamber filled with the transmutative formula and activated. The mechanism primed the alchemicals then initiated the next stage. The effects were instantaneous. The subject convulsed as his blood vessels constricted against those first drops. The plunger pushed the mixture through the obstruction, and the subject thrashed violently, nearly toppling the surgical table. As hypothesized, pain proved the catalyst of change. It released the flood of chemistry required to transmute the subject’s base anatomy. A snapping of bone and sinew followed, reshaping the skeletal frame. And then a jagged shard ripped through the subject’s wrist. He wrenched against the bindings, pulling until the joint cracked sharply, and his severed hand fell to the floor. There was a piercing wail, and his entire body seized before suffering a full collapse. The transmutation had failed. I stanched the wound and stabilized the body’s vital tasks. Perhaps I’ve overestimated the subject’s tolerance for pain. I will recalibrate and begin anew tomorrow.

SEVERED LIMB

Returned to my laboratory and found the severed hand still on the floor. Surprisingly, it showed no signs of decay or rigor. Examined the subject’s mangled stump as he spat a litany of insults and threats. The rise in aggression is a promising aftereffect of the alchemicals. But the most striking change was hidden beneath the blood-soaked bandages. A protolimb. Embryonic and malformed, but beautiful in its predatorial function. Even now, hours after the aborted procedure, flesh continues to grow and outpace the formation of misshapen bone. Perhaps allowing more time for the serum to take effect may prove beneficial.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE 3.png

NEW DESIGN

Images of the protolimb pervaded my sleep. Its beauty and singular purpose arrested in tragic failure. But what if it could be more? Awoke with the spark of inspiration. Metallurgy. It may lack the refinements of true chemistry, but last night, it served my purpose. Worked until first light forging steel, sharpening edges, and hammering a framework. It should provide the necessary structure, a scaffolding of sorts, for the new limb to grow into. Improving upon nature is simple when she’s already offered a design.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE 4.png

ENHANCEMENTS

The constraints of the procedure forced me to benumb the subject and work swiftly. Discovered signs of new growth on the protolimb. The changes had slowed, but not settled. Grafted the malformed limb’s muscle tissue, blood vessels, and delicate nerve endings to the framework. Finished by integrating the augmentation with the alchemical chamber. Observed a slight twitch in the smallest digit. Moved subject, and reinforced his restraints. What other enhancements could be made? Perhaps I shall have a stroll and take in the Gray. There is much to consider.

ENGINEERING THE NIGHTMARE 5.png

TRANSMUTATION

Returned from the Boundary Markets and was greeted by an old familiar stench. Tributaries of blighted veins stretched across the subject’s back. The infection originated where bone and metal chamber adjoined. Made adjustment to the formula, and dispensed the new batch. The subject’s stupor broke in a piercing shriek as his skeletal structure fractured and reshaped. A beastial form began to emerge, the chimeric properties finally surfacing, but then, the transmutation slowly ebbed and stilled. Increased the chamber’s outflow. It trembled violently, delivering twice the dosage for every beat of the heart. The body contorted in response as flesh split like poorly seamed fabric unable to contain the changes occurring underneath. The chamber rumbled as the mixture roiled within the sealed container. Pressure built until it released in a rupture of hoses, seals, and blood vessels. A series of snapping sounds followed, metallic and clanging, and the subject’s restraints gave way. An instant later, he was tearing into my face, reopening the old wounds and feeding the old rage. We struggled briefly until he finally grew limp and collapsed. A single word escaped his throat. And then all the indicators of life faded, and the body finally settled. No heartbeat detected. Applied several drops of caustic solution to his left arm, and received no response. Subject deceased. Dragged the body outside, and disposed of the remains in the Sump. Once again, scientific progress is stifled by lesser creatures. The only consolation is that even failure adds to the vast reservoir of knowledge.

INTRUDER

There was a disturbance last night. Arrived to discover the rear door to my laboratory was torn from its hinges. Its heavy wooden planks cleaved and splintered into kindling. Inside, my equipment and provisions suffered a similar fate. Nothing was spared. And everything bore the same deep, gouging slash of sharpened metal. Hours of examining and comparing the marks confirmed the truth—the subject had returned! I don’t know how, but there are a myriad of questions already forming in my mind. But first, a new laboratory must be secured before locating the beast and starting the next phase. What was the word the subject said before it collapsed? A name perhaps? I’ll start there, and see where the search leads me.

Singed descended from a long line of Zaun's revered chemists. Even in his youth, his talent for concocting potions far outstripped that of his peers, and he quickly distinguished himself from his less extraordinary chemist compatriots. It came as no surprise to anyone when he was selected for apprenticeship by the infamous WarwickSquare.png Warwick, master apothecary on a lucrative retainer with the Noxian military during their campaign against Ionia. Within Warwick's laboratories, Singed toiled without end, rapidly absorbing every detail of his predecessor's deadly craft. Singed had little concern for the death and destruction that was the fruit of his labors. By the time the curse of lycanthropy descended to claim his master, Singed was poised and eager to make the transition from workhorse to innovator; he was ready to share his genius by bringing a new brand of suffering to the Ionian front. His zeal for progress was unquenchable, and when suitable test subjects proved to be in short supply, the eager chemist was often thought to turn his volatile mixtures on his own flesh.

Soon, he was barely even a man, his body both ruined and sustained by his ingenious craft. A thousand burns - accidents of shadow and flame - mar his ravaged form, and exposure to such harsh conditions has deadened his nerves, hardened his body, and strengthened his physique, transforming him into a veritable juggernaut. This, combined with a formidable arsenal of deadly concoctions, makes Singed a force to be reckoned with.

"My deadliest dose shall bear my patron's name!"

Patch History

v7.22

BASE ARMOR : [27.88] 37

v7.15
Q particles more clear, especially for colorblind players. R now grants stats faster.

Singed has shiny new abilities with his update, which means shiny new quality of life issues and bugs! We’ve fixed the ones who have come to light. We also hotfixed in a few balance-impacting changes partway through last patch, so if you haven’t seen those yet, feel free to make a quick detour.

Poison Trail.png Q - Poison Trail

CLARITY Poison Trail’s opacity has been adjusted for colorblind mode and various skins. Riot Singed’s Poison Trail visuals now properly change color when colorblind mode is activated.

Insanity Potion.png R - Insanity Potion

CHUG CHUG CHUG Singed now correctly receives stats instantly, as opposed to sometimes having up to 0.25 seconds delay.

v7.14

We're reducing Singed's durability since the movement speed from his new passive has added significantly to his survivability in skirmishes and fights.

BASE HEALTH : [610] 580
HEALTH GROWTH : [90] 85
INSANITY POTION COOLDOWN : [100 seconds at all ranks]
120/110/100 seconds

New passive grants movement speed when passing by other champions. Base and scaling health increased. Q base damage down, AP scaling up. W now grounds enemies within it.

Singed isn’t on our VGU list for the near future, so we wanted to find opportunities to bring Singed’s existing abilities into 2017. The big issues we wanted to address: his build inflexibility and his struggles against slippery champions.
Empowered Bulwark meant that Singed relied on mana items for efficient durability. Instead, we’re giving him higher base durability and letting him itemize more freely. His new passive ensures Singed has the stickiness and closing power a growing melee champion needs.
While Noxious Slipstream should assist him in getting to opponents, Singed is still harshly countered by slippery champions. Mega Adhesive grounding those standing within it should give Singed more of a chance to get to those champions.
Finally, we’re shifting Poison Trail’s damage from base values into scaling so Singed can feel good about building damage when snowballing, rather than always feeling best about Righteous Glory.

v6.19
Poison ticks much faster but damage over time is unchanged.

This one’s pretty simple. A smoother tick rate makes Poison Trail’s payoff more consistently reflect how well Singed was able to outmaneuver his opponents (or how quickly opponents were able to escape).

Poison Trail.png Q - Poison Trail

TICKS PER SECOND : [1] 4
DAMAGE PER SECOND : Unchanged
Mega Adhesive :
A STICKY SITUATION : Fixed a bug where Mega Adhesive lasted 0.5 seconds longer than intended

v5.13
Singed now has Magic Resist that scales with level. E's root duration increased when flinging into Mega Adhesive. Now possesses the most powerful laugh in the game.

"5.13's changes to Singed are all about calling attention to a mechanic that's been under-utilized by a majority of players - namely, his Fling + Mega Adhesive combo. Upping the reward for execution this tricky play (and giving him some added defense to help pull it off) should make the veteran Singed players out there feel like they've got another powerful tool to show off their mixologist mastery on the rift.
Don't let us undersell these changes, though. Better defenses and payoff sound great, but laughing while flinging is the biggest buff we've given a champion in the history of League of Legends. Shake well, my friends."
  • General
    • BASE MAGIC RESIST : 30 32.1
    • MAGIC RESIST GROWTH STAT : 0 1.25
  • Fling.png E - Fling
    • ROOT DURATION : 1 second at all ranks 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds
    • THE MAN WHO LAUGHS : Singed now laughs whenever he flings an enemy

v5.7
E's monster cap wasn't factoring in E's base damage.

"Adding % damage to Fling last patch introduced a bug where the whole ability's damage was capped at 300 vs monsters instead of the %HP portion. Jungle Singed buffs! "
  • Fling.png E - Fling
    • ELBOW GREASE : Fixed a bug where the 300 damage cap to monsters was being applied improperly

v5.6
E deals max health damage.

"Whether he's shaking up the toplane or stirring up a skirmish, every player knows what happens when you mix it up with an unstoppable Singed. That said, when he finds himself unable to dive into the enemy team's deep end, even the Mad Chemist needs a pick-me-up. This should let him flexibly fling fighters out of the fray when the fight's not in his favor."
  • Fling.png E - Fling
    • DAMAGE : 80/125/170/215/260 (+0.75 ability power) magic damage 50/65/80/95/110 (+0.75 ability power) + (6/6.5/7/7.5/8% of target's maximum health) magic damage

v5.5

"It's called "Mega Adhesive," not "Adequate Adhesive." Fling in peace, summoners. "
  • Fling.png E - Fling
    • BUGFIX : Fixed several cases where Flinging an enemy into Mega-Adhesive would not immediately root them

v4.19
STICK 'EM IN THE GOO! ... Also Insanity Potion gives more bonuses at rank 3. And Singed has been updated!

"Our initial context was to say, "Sometimes you just want to buff Singed, man," but then someone read it and said it wasn't very informative. So. Right now we like Singed and how he fits into the game, but thought we could give him some small, exciting buffs to stay interesting. For the "LONG PATCH NOTE" section, we'll reiterate: it's a neutral change, just that we've shifted the mini-stun on landing into the actual throw itself (this came from re-scripting Fling to fix the bug where Singed was occasionally tossing people in the completely wrong direction). Also, Singed has been updated! [out the article] if you want the full story, or below if you just want the specifics. "
  • General
    • Visuals : Updated model and textures for base and all skins
    • ICONS : New ability icons
    • SPLASH : New base splash
  • Fling.png E - Fling
    • [NEW] STAY WITH ME : If Singed Flings a target into Mega Adhesive Zone, they will be snared for 1 second
    • FLIP FLOP : Fixed a bug where Singed would occasionally Fling his targets in completely wrong directions (we believe this is fixed for most cases, let us know if if keeps happening!)
    • A LONG PATCH NOTE : Singed's arm is stronger, thereby letting him Fling targets higher into the sky for slightly longer durations. In exchange, targets will be able to move immediately after being flung. This is a net neutral change, as we basically took the mini-stun from Fling's landing and put it into duration of the Fling itself.
  • Insanity Potion.png R - Insanity Potion
    • Stat enhancement : 35/50/65 35/50/80 ability power, armor, magic resist, movement speed, health per 5 seconds and mana per 5 seconds

Splash Updates

"As we've mentioned previously, the splash art team is engaged in a long-term effort to update our oldest base splashes. A few more are ready to go this patch!"
  • SPLASH : The following champions have received updated base splashes (click the portraits for the full image!)
