North America LCS Week 9 Power Rankings
The LCS finale countdown continues to tick. For some of our NA contestants, as few as seven games stand between them and the end of the season. Qualification for the NA LCS Fall Season is on the line, and only four teams will make the cut. At the top of the NA ladder, Curse, Dignitas, and Team SoloMid are starting to look very secure indeed. The battle for fourth, and the last qualification spot, is a three-way run off between CLG, MRN, and Vulcun, with CLG slightly ahead going into Week 9. Rounding out the bottom of the NA ladder, Good Game University and compLexity continue to battle on, now for pride more than anything else. 1. 
Curse Gaming (Previously #1) Current Record: 16W-4L
With the end of the NA LCS Spring Season in sight, Curse continue to maintain a tenuous hold on first place. A 2W-1L record in Week 8 was only good enough to tie the bye-week Dignitas in wins, but one fewer loss (and a game in hand as a result) boost Curse ahead. Cop and Voyboy remain the pillars of Curse’s success. A rare series of positioning mistakes pushed Saintvicious off our list as he reached “only” a 3/10/25 KDA in Week 8. Curse face MRN, compLexity, and Team SoloMid in Week 9, and we see no reason to expect anything other than a continuation of the status quo: at least a 2W-1L record.

Team Dignitas (Previously #2) Current Record:16W-5L
Coming out of a bye in Week 8, Dignitas will be planning on recapturing their spot atop the NA LCS ladder. A loss to Curse in Week 7 remains the deciding moment between Dignitas and Curse in the LCS and is the one factor keeping Dignitas out of first place. However, a rested and fully prepared scarra and Imaqtpie combo will be out for blood in Week 9. Dignitas square off against Counter Logic Gaming and Good Game University in a shortened 2-game Week 9 schedule. They need to win both matches to keep the race alive against Curse at the top of the NA LCS.

Team SoloMid (Previously #3) Current Record: 15W-7L
At the risk of having a stagnant top three in our NA Power Rankings, Team SoloMid are again in third. The fact of the matter is: third is exactly where TSM belong right now. Reginald is back in control as team captain, and he is making great use of TSM’s new-found powerhouse WildTurtle. The team have been more organized, more efficient, and more deadly since the changes. Even discounting their surprise loss to Vulcun, which gave them a 1W-1L record, Team SoloMid are on the rise in the NA LCS. If they can keep their momentum rolling, TSM might find themselves in serious contention for first. TSM have only one game in Week 9 against Curse.

Counter Logic Gaming (Previously #4) Current Record: 10W-11L
Another week, another match, another disappointment: Counter Logic Gaming find themselves with a negative W/L ratio headed into the last two weeks of the LCS, and they can only blame themselves. A surprise loss to compLexity in Week 8 left CLG stunned and befuddled at 0W-1L for the week. Nevertheless, they were still as arrogant as ever. We get that Doublelift is an incredible player. Even so, if you put all your eggs in one basket, you are bound to go hungry sometimes. Instead of diversifying their champion pool and bringing in some more damage dealers at top lane or in the Jungle, CLG keep on rolling with old strategies. As a result, it is purely Doublelift’s skill that keeps them in contention for a top four finish. CLG square off against Dignitas and MRN in Week 9. Our bet on their strategy? Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Team MRN (Previously #5) Current Record: 7W-13L
MRN eked out a 1W-1L record in Week 8, triumphing over compLexity only to fall short in their match against Good Game University. The victory was enough to keep MRN secure in fifth place, but it hardly gave them an edge up on CLG at fourth. Realistically, MRN are probably in the best place to avoid relegation of any team in the bottom four of the NA LCS. MegaZero has been on fire recently, snagging a 10/4/18 KDA in Week 8 alone. And while Nientonsoh is still adjusting to the LCS, we think he has great potential as an AD Carry. MRN have matches against Curse, GGU, and CLG in Week 9.

Team Vulcun (Previously #6) Current Record: 8W-15L
Despite a somewhat disappointing 1W-2L Week 8, we like Vulcun’s prospects in the NA mid-table showdown. Picking up BloodWater gave them an instant increase in average assists in Week 8. Additionally, mandatorycloud has been consistent in the mid lane, even if he does tend to die a lot more than strictly necessary. We also like Xmithie’s jungling, as he averaged 10 assists per game in Week 8. With a little more time to mesh, Vulcun could be a force to be reckoned with in the NA LCS. The only question is: Will it be too late? They only have one week of games to change their fate. Vulcun have a bye in Week 9.

compLexity Gaming (Previously #8) Current Record: 6W-15L
After dipping all the way down to last place in our Week 8 Power Rankings, compLexity battled back into seventh place for Week 9. It is baffling that they are as low as seventh considering their team KDA, but numbers do not tell the whole story in League of Legends.
CompLexity have struggled to get their star performers (Nickwu and Lautemortis) properly involved in teamfights. If Nickwu converts his 21/9/23 KDA into arena domination the same way that Bjergsen or Voyboy do, compLexity would probably be boxing with CLG at fourth instead of exchanging slaps with GGU at eighth. Until something changes, compLexity will have to content themselves with not being in last. CompLexity have a tough match against Curse followed by a deadly head-to-head with GGU in Week 9.

Good Game University (Previously #7) Current Record: 6W-14L
Good Game University have the misfortune of returning to eighth place in our power rankings for Week 9. A valiant march into seventh place for Week 8 was tragically short-lived. As always, DontMashMe pulled a strong KDA (14/3/13) in Week 8, but so far his solo exploits have not counteracted his team's shortcomings. Throwing further troubles onto the GGU fire, BloodWater abandoned ship for Vulcun. GGU have drafted in Daydreamin as a replacement. The new recruit will have to hit the ground running because his second week of LCS experience will be ruthless. Good Game University face MRN, Dignitas, and compLexity in Week 9.
