bbq Olivers is a Korean team.
History[]
During the 2017 offseason on Jan 11th, the recently qualified LCK team ESC Ever was renamed to bbq Oliver’s with the addition of the Genesis bbq name sponsorship, retaining the roster of Crazy, Firetrap (now Part), Bless, Tempt, Ghost, and Totoro.
2017 Season[]
The team finished 8th place in Spring and 9th in Summer, missing playoffs both splits as well as regionals for worlds, the team also having to play in the LCK 2018 Spring Promotion where, with the help of newly acquired bono, they requalified by sweeping CJ Entus 3-0. At the end of the year, Part and Bless departed, Totoro also leaving after the Qualifying Round elimination at KeSPA Cup 2017. Afterwards, Trick, IgNar, and Xero join the team.
2018 Season[]
Once more bbq Olivers finished 8th place in the Spring Split, failing to make playoffs. In the break between the Spring and Summer split, Yang Ji-hoon left the managerial role, while Jamie joined as Director of Global Business Development, and Aries joined as an AD Carry.
The team once more found themselves in the Promotion Tournament after a 2-16 performance to finish last in the Summer Split, failing to qualify after falling to MVP 1-3 in the first elimination match. In the off season, Bono, Tempt, Ghost, Trick, IgNar, Crazy, Ares, and Xero all departed from the team as a result of the relegation. However, bbq in return brought in HeoKong, Malice (originally announced as Sebastian), autumn, wind, Rebel, and Zzus, while also accquiring Quest as head coach, as well as MakNooN and LS as coaches. With the arrival of Malice and LS, they become the first foreign (non-Korean) player and coach to join a Korean team.
2019 Season[]
At the start of the season, Jamie moved to the role of General Manager, and the organization also brought in Deus. Shortly after, Malice was suspended by the organization for soloqueue toxicity, becoming inactive for three weeks.
Into the first week of the Challengers Korea, on January 25th, it was announced that (due to bbq Olivers suspension of Malice and LS for two weeks) that the starting roster for week one would have HeoKong in top lane, Wind moving from adc to jungle, Grace in the mid lane, Zzus moving from support to adc, and Rebel debuting on support after finally being of age to play. Bbq's first series in week one would be a rematch against ES Sharks after a 2-0 series during the 2018 LoL KeSPA Cup . ES sharks would have their revenge after ending the series in two swift games. Their second series vs Brion Blade would result in a forfeit leaving bbq at 0-2 after week one.
Bbq finally after the return of Malice in the jungle and LS in the coaching role, would bounce back from their poor showing in week one winning 2-1 vs APK Prince .
