After the 2014 Season, the LCS expanded to a 10-team competition from the original 8-team format. For both splits of the 2017 Season, the EULCS Regular Season was comprised of two groups. For the 2018 Season, it returned to a single group.
After the 2017 Season, promotion was removed.
After the 2018 Season, the EU LCS was franchised and rebranded to LEC.
Before the 2019 Spring split, the EU LCS rebranded to LEC and moved to a permanent franchised system. Unicorns of Love, H2k Gaming, Giants Gaming, and Team ROCCAT were not accepted into the new league and were disbanded. The six remaining teams, along with two new and two returning teams, were given permanent slots in the league.
