Song "Fly" Yong-jun (Hangul: 송용준) is a League of Legends esports player, currently mid laner for Afreeca Freecs.
Biography[]
Song "Fly" Yong-jun is from Oksan, South Korea and currently lives in Baekseok. He began to play League of Legends in February 2012, around the time of the patch that released Ziggs.
Season 3[]
Fly joined CTU Revolt in June of 2013 under the name "SongJinRi". He played with them in the HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013 Qualifiers but they lost 2-0 to Xenics Storm in the final round and missed out on qualification. He moved to Chunnam Techno University in October but did not play any games for them before leaving in November.
2014 Season[]
SongJinRi joined the Jin Air Green Wings Stealths as a mid laner in February of 2014 under a new name, Fly. The only OGN tournament that Fly played with Jin Air was HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014 where they made it to the quarterfinals but lost 3-0 to Samsung Galaxy Blue.
2015 Season[]
On November 30, 2014, Fly left Jin Air to join Invictus Gaming.[23][24] He didn't play any games for them before being moved over to their sister team, Young Glory, at the beginning of January 2015. Young Glory's first tournament was the 2015 Demacia Cup Spring Season where they lost 3-0 in the round of 28 to Vici Gaming. YG played in the 2015 LSPL Spring Season and placed second in their group to qualify for the 2015 LoL Secondary Pro League Spring Playoffs. YG finished fifth overall after a 2-1 loss to AD Gaming and a 2-0 loss to Legend Dragon. They qualified for the 2015 LPL Summer Promotion Tournament but they lost 3-0 in the first round to Star Horn Royal Club. YG played in the 2015 Demacia Cup Summer Season but lost 3-1 to Vici Gaming in the round of 16. YG topped their group in the 2015 LSPL Summer Season to make the playoffs of the 2015 LSPL Summer Playoffs. They dropped out in the second round after 2-0 losses to Hyper Youth Gaming and 2144 Danmu Gaming. They made it to the 2016 LPL Spring Season Promotion Tournament but they lost in the first round 3-2 to Royal Never Give Up.
2016 Preseason[]
Fly left YG on December 2 to join KT Rolster as their new starting mid laner.
2016 Season[]
During the LCK 2016 Spring Season, KT Rolster finished second place in the regular season with a 13-5 match record. Their regular season placement earned them a bye into the semi-finals of the Spring Playoffs, where they faced SK Telecom T1. Unfortunately, they were swept 3-0, ending their spring split with a third place finish.
During the 2016 LCK Summer Split, KT Rolster claimed third place in the regular season with a 13-5 series record, losing to SK Telecom T1 based on game score. This seeded them into the 2nd round of the 2016 LCK Summer Playoffs, where they met Samsung Galaxy. KT had yet to drop a game to Samsung since the start of Season 5's LCK era, and this trend continued as they swept them 3-0. In the semifinals, they met SK Telecom T1 in the Telecom Wars, and this time they managed to reverse sweep them 3-2 to move onto the finals. In an epic set against the ROX Tigers, KT Rolster barely lost 3-2, losing out on Korea's first seed at Worlds, but giving them the highest seed for the Korea Regional Finals 2016. In a rematch against Samsung Galaxy where KT were heavily favored to make it out, Samsung managed to break a 19 game losing streak against KT to win the set 3-2 and take Korea's third seed, ending KT Rolster's season early.
2017 Season[]
On 20 May 2017, Fly left Longzhu and joined Gold Coin United after an inconsistent and underwhelming season. He had the worst CS difference in 10 minutes of -6.0 among all mid laners and second worst among all starting players in the entire league.[25]. In the 2017 NA CS Summer Season, Gold Coin United would finish in 2nd place right behind eUnited. However in the playoffs, they would finish in first place after a 3-1 victory over eUnited. Although they had a chance to qualify for the LCS in the 2018 Spring Promotion, they were unable to do so after an 0-3 loss to eUnited in the Loser's Bracket. In November of 2017 Fly left Gold Coin United and joined FlyQuest within that same month.
2018 Season[]
With the advent of franchising in the NA LCS for the 2018 Spring Split, FlyQuest scrapped their previous roster and rebuilt around bottom laner Wildturtle. Fly joined the team along with top laner Flame, jungler Anda, and support Stunt. However, due to visa issues at the beginning of the split, Fly was unable to play at the beginning of the season, and the team was forced to use academy midlaner Keane for the first three weeks. The team failed to improve once Fly was eligible to play, and FlyQuest went on to finish 8th with a 6-12 record. Fly left the team in April and returned to Korea to play with the newly branded Gen.G the next month.
