Lee "Spirit" Da-yoon (Hangul: 이다윤) is a League of Legends esports player, currently jungler for Afreeca Freecs.
Biography[edit]
Season 3[edit]
Lee "Spirit" Da-yoon joined MVP Blue as a jungler in June of 2013. Blue played in HOT6iX Champions Summer 2013 but failed to make it past the group stage. Spirit shared the jungle position in this tournament with CNyang. Blue and their sister team, MVP Ozone, were picked up by the Samsung organization to form Samsung Galaxy Blue and Samsung Galaxy Ozone, respectively.
2014 Season[edit]
The new Samsung Blue team played in PANDORA.TV Champions Winter 2013-2014 and they finally made it to the quarterfinals but were stopped 3-0 by the undefeated SK Telecom T1 K. Blue really made a name for themselves during HOT6iX Champions Spring 2014 by winning the tournament 3-1 against NaJin White Shield and even defeating Ozone along the way. Blue continued their success in HOT6iX Champions Summer 2014 by making the finals, this time losing a close 3-2 set to the KT Rolster Arrows. They still earned enough circuit points to qualify for the 2014 Season World Championship as the top seed from Korea. They made the semifinals at worlds but met their sister team, White, and lost 3-0 to them. On November 17, 2014, it was officially announced, that all remaining members of Samsung White and Samsung Blue left their teams.[1] Spirit would resume his career after moving to china and joining Team WE. He competed at the Demacia Cup Season 2 with them being defeated by EDward Gaming 3-2 in the finals.
2015 Season[edit]
Due to their 1st place finish at IEM Shenzhen, Team WE were invited to compete at the IEM Season IX - World Championship. After a Round 1 loss against Team SoloMid, the team went on to beat Gambit Gaming in Round 1 of the losers bracket. Round 2 of the losers bracket saw WE beat CJ Entus, securing the team a place in the bracket stage. Spirit and Team WE then pulled off the upset of the tournament, emerging victorious in their semifinal matchup over the previously unbeaten GE Tigers. They went on to finish in 2nd place after losing to Team SoloMid in the final of the tournament. Two weeks later, they finished up their 2015 Demacia Cup Spring Season with a 3-0 loss to EDG and a 3-2 loss to LSPL team, Qiao Gu, to finally end in fourth overall. They made a late surge near the end of the 2015 LPL Spring Regular Season and overtook Masters 3 to qualify for the 2015 LPL Spring Playoffs as the eighth seed. They matched up against EDG in the first round and with EDG's mid laner, PawN, being out sick, it seemed as though they were going to take the series. However, PawN came back to play game 5 and EDG knocked Team WE out 3-2. Shortly afterwards, WE played in the International Esports Tournament 2015 and managed to make it to the finals but lost 2-1 there to Invictus Gaming. WE participated in the 2015 Demacia Cup Summer Season and made it to the quarterfinals but they lost 3-0 there to EDG. They ended in eleventh place in the 2015 LPL Summer Regular Season and were forced to play in the 2016 LPL Spring Promotion Tournament. They requalified for the 2016 LPL Spring Season with a decisive 3-0 victory over Unlimited Potential. Spirit left WE in November of 2015.
2016 Season[edit]
At the start of the season, Spirit announced that he had departed from Team WE. He then joined Fnatic after the team were voted to play at IEM Season X - Cologne. They fielded a roster including Febiven and Rekkles from their 2015 roster along with new members Gamsu, Spirit, and NoXiAK. The team had a bye to the semifinals, but were beaten at this stage by Qiao Gu Reapers. Despite being only in fifth place in the EU LCS split at the time of the tournament, Fnatic were invited to IEM Katowice due to their previous season's success. There, they had a surprisingly strong run, finishing in second place behind SK Telecom. Spirit showed extremely good play on Lee Sin throughout the tournament but was more inconsistent on other champions.
